Sunday Morning Worship Service.

One non-military aspect of GE#5 being arranged is the establishment of Sunday morning worship services. The Grand Encampment council is very happy to announce that on Sunday morning there will be one Protestant service held in the British Camp and one Catholic held in the French Camp. Both services will be held at the same time ~ early. As planning the event progresses, the time for the services will be listed on the Event Schedule page of this website.

Pastor Ron Shepard composed the following prayer for GE#1 in 2002. Everyone is invited to participate by saying it often from now till the end of the event. Inspiration came from the 3rd. Army prayer of General George Patton asking for clear weather in December 1944 when the German offensive (The Battle of the Bulge) was underway beneath concealing overcast skies, bad weather and falling snow. Skies cleared soon thereafter. For GE#1 an overcast sky appeared from Thursday through noon Sunday reducing over 90 degree temperatures into the 70s and 80s.

PRAYER INVITATION

O LORD, as we humble ourselves before your throne, we pray for Your blessings upon our encampment. We ask that no serious accidents or injuries occur in our coming, or going, or our attendance. We ask You, LORD, to make each of us an example of good behavior and neighborly love. Father, we pray that you would bless our encampment with dry weather and mild temperatures. Have mercy on your people and if it be Your will, grant our petitions. We ask these things in the name of your Son Jesus, who is the Christ. Amen.
